Food and shoes – what a combo!

Gardening & Permaculture Training 2013

Gardening & Permaculture Training 2013

On Thursday, 7th August our community facilitators and some group members enjoyed a presentation by Mr Lynn Allen, from one of our partners “Feed my People” – a ministry of the Kloof Methodist Church. Lynn showed the ladies how to make simple slip-on ladies shoes as an income generation idea. Training will take place soon and we look forward to some wonderful creativity as bead work or leather punched shapes can be added as adornments to the shoes.

Lynn also treated them to some delicious food, cooked from a dry pack of protein rich, low GI, nutrient enriched ingredients (including Moringa, which is rich in anti-oxidants, anti-inflammatory compounds, vitamins, minerals, Amino Acids and Omega 3,6 and 9.)  One pack of 250g stew mix with spices and herbs yield approximately 1000gms of food which is sufficient to feed a family of 4-5 people. Meat and vegetables can be added to make it go further. This idea was also well received by the ladies.
